Lookout Mountain Engagement Shoot | Hunter + Audrey

Mountain View Location

The beautiful thing about Denver is the proximity to big mountain views without having to drive too far outside the city. The reason I love Lookout Mountain is because you can get to it within a 30 minute drive of Denver, and it has so much variety between the big mountain views as well as the forested trees nearby. Because the trees there are pine they look stunning year round in the winter, summer, autumn, and spring. There’s a few different overlooks that showcase big views of the mountains that you can readily walk to. I even invite that couples can opt to walk and change shoes when we get to the lookout point so they can wear their finest attire. In the case H + A wanted to do a hiking, outdoors theme for the first half of their shoot with their hiking clothing and boots. Their outfits fit the mountain view theme so perfectly and it was such a special way to celebrate their new engagement.

Engagement photos after the proposal

H + A had just gotten engaged that morning so the excitement of the moment was still fresh. I really liked the idea that he was able to propose to her privately, and then surprised her with the engagement shoot after the fact. That way they had the entire day to soak in the moment, call friends and family with the news, and then still coordinate their outfits for their engagement shoot together.

Switching outfits

I always offer the option to do two outfits for photoshoots. That way couples can get a variety of both a casual outfit, and one more dressed up. This offers that you can have photos for both announcements, save the dates, and beyond. I see often that when people dress in a more comfortable outfit that fits their vibe as a couple, it allows them to be more themselves. This is because they are free to be who they are and express what they love to do together in the every day attire they would normally wear. Sessions like this can showcase the moment of being engaged along with a moment of time that is true to who the couple is in their day to day.
