Boulder, Colorado 1920’s Theme Anniversary Wedding Photographer | Jordan + Relly

Jordan and Relly got married in Boulder, Colorado and have made it a tradition to go back to where they got married on their anniversary and get photos done. Each year for their anniversary photos they go with a different theme, this years’ theme was a 1920s photo session.

Jordan wore a gorgeous silk, ivory, vintage dress that had these loose long sleeves with buttons. She accessorized with a pearl hair clip and it was a perfect detail. Relly wore suspenders and his tie actually matched the background which was a cool touch because it added color and tied in their outfits to the background of the mountains! Even though Jordan was wearing ivory and Relly was wearing more of a pure white. They went together so well and complemented each other, mixing up warm and cool-toned neutrals makes for a beautiful look as opposed to matching things perfectly together. Wearing colors that are naturally in the environment you are in makes for a great color scheme for photos.

We did a lot of experimenting when it came to poses for this session. We focused on a lot of movement throughout our time together to create some authentic-looking poses. Movement will allow certain clothes, like Jordan’s dress to really flow and add a lot of dimension to the images as well.

What I loved the most about this session is that they had fun and didn’t take themselves too seriously. Relly was making Jordan laugh the entire time, making jokes with her and dancing with her. Jordan was sticking with the more editorial feel of the session while Relly made it his goal to make her smile, I love that we got a little bit of both feelings represented in the images!

Jordan and Relly keeping their tradition alive of annual photos for their anniversary is such a unique idea and it was so much fun to be a part of it. With this tradition, they will have photos from every year of their marriage where they got married and that to me is just so special! These photos will be passed down to generations and will be viewed for years to come.

Whether something more casual feels authentic to you or something more glam like a 1920s session like Jordan and Relly did, documenting your time together will be a beautiful representation of your love! Dressing up as a theme for your session is such a nice way to create a really stunning look for any photoshoot, let alone an anniversary! Reminiscing on your wedding day, getting dressed up again, and creating an experience to document your time together is amazing. I absolutely loved the editorial nature of this session. The reason this shoot worked so well is because we put together a mood board similar to how an editorial or magazine shoot would be put together. We really talked about the concept of the shoot and brought our vision to life and I love how it turned out!
