RiNo Art District Denver Brewery Engagement Photographer | Kristin + Max
In the deep deep depths of the internet Kristin found my work and a recent date night style engagement shoot I had done with a couple in downtown denver at a brewery. She knew she wanted something that felt like that mood of candid date night photography for her Denver engagement photoshoot. So we started to think through what their favorite spots would be for a date night and what they would do even if there wasn’t a camera in their face.
The two live close to the heart of the city in Denver and they love the urban environment to bike around their neighborhood and go grab a drink together. They love the urban setting that surrounds them so that fit their personalities well for their shoot. That narrows it down! Somewhere in the city.
Another thing she mentioned to me was they LOVE craft beer. How can you not in a place like colorado where craft beer is so prevalent and SO GOOD. Bam - a craft brewery somewhere in Denver.
RiNo Denver is a great area to take Engagement photos because there’s so much awesome atmosphere and so many different bars, restaurants, breweries, shops, and not to mention incredible street art. Kristin + Max had a favorite brewery in the area and decided we should meet there to start their brewery engagement session. Turns out the place has adorable styling and even a photo booth! How cool.
We had lots of fun playing around on the patio with the warm summer night feeling just chatting over beers and getting to know one another. I loved how the brewery had several different spaces I could capture them in and the light was really shining down that day so I played with shadows quite a bit in addition to harsh sunlight. It’s fun for me to not always go with the soft golden hour shots which are of course perfect and stunning always. But I love to mix it up and do harsh lighting to see how we could get a unique, more editorial-style photograph.
The photobooth at Ratio brewery is a must if you stop by! I like that there’s a take home element of the printed photos from the booth right away that you can mix into your gallery with the professional photos you get later on. Plus, who doesn’t love the nostalgic feeling of a photobooth?
After we got a beer and played around in the photobooth at the bar we decided to catch golden hour on the streets nearby. They brought their bikes and wanted to embody what they would typically do on a weekend together. I really love to incorporate the casual elements of what a couple already loves to do together to make their shoot more authentic to their relationship. Biking around the city was just the right vibe to do the second part of their shoot with.
Chasing them down the street as they strolled through downtown denver and RiNo we captured some really special and candid moments. I absolutely love the storytelling of how they set up their bikes, and rode around laughing and enjoying the night in their neighborhood together. It felt like the perfect way to end the session doing what they love spending time doing together on a day to day basis.
