Steamboat Springs Ranch Wedding at Lucky 8 Ranch | Lauren + Will
Lucky 8 Ranch Wedding Venue located just outside of Steamboat Springs, Colorado is a massive property with a gorgeous setting overlooking the valley. They include a tent for the reception that has the most beautiful indoor/outdoor vibe for guests to host a gorgeous Colorado mountain wedding for their big day. Will and Lauren decided on Steamboat Springs to get married because it holds a special place in their hearts and they had many favorite past times together there.
We began the whole day with their first look among the aspen trees. The mature aspen tree grove on the property was host to some of my favorite images of the day where we got a ride down from the property owner to have a moment all to ourselves to take photos. It really is a ranch - we passed a ton of beautiful bison on our ride down. We crossed over a stream and arrived in the aspen grove where there were trees as far as the eye could see.
Just after we had some time alone for the couple to decompress and shed any nerves of seeing one another we got right into the ceremony. The ceremony space at Lucky 8 Ranch is a gorgeous overlook of the whole valley with well maintained grass that looks immaculate in photos. I liked how manicured they kept everything and that it was clearly well kept grounds. It is so clear Will and Lauren have a special connection in adventure together. All the readings and vows included stories of the zest for life each of them share. It was so special to see how all their friends and family came together to share the moment in the mountains with them.
We knocked out family photographs and got everyone down to the cocktail hour space with enough time for Lauren and Will to grab one of their own signature drinks and mingle with their guests! It’s really not often we have enough time to wrap formal photos in time for a couple to get to their own cocktail hour - but these two were determined to make it happen. I loved the extra-long cocktail hour so the couple didn’t feel like they were just there to take photos. It’s about the guests and everyone coming together and they made sure to relish the moments with all their friends and family who attended. I HIGHLY recommend an extra long cocktail hour if you can swing it!
As guests moved into the tent for dinner they passed by a champagne wall where they could grab a glass for toasts. This really kept the day moving and was such a great way to get guests seated and ready for the next phase of the day. I loved the modern look to their whole reception space and CAN WE JUST TAKE A MOMENT FOR THIS FLORAL ARRANGEMENT!? I mean if this isn’t floral goals- I don’t know what is. Shannon over at Unbound Floral Design absolutely crushed it.
The reception had the best lighting. The tent diffused white light and illuminated the space - plus gave me some white walls and ceiling to bounce flash off of! Lauren and Will did their first dance to a Mac Miller song and he and his mom did a Kanye song. I was STOKED to see how they mixed it up and made it fun and their own. The speeches by their friends and family had everyone laughing and reminiscing on the beautiful memories the couple has made together throughout the years. And DJ Mark with TH Entertainment turned things UP for the remainder of the night getting the party going.
