Coors Field Colorado Rockies Surprise Proposal | Chase + Meg
Chase reached out to me pretty early on before he set a date to surprise Meg with a proposal. He got the ring for her in December and started planning an elaborate scheme to pop the question to her in January. He decided he wanted to do a surprise proposal at the Coors Field in Denver where the Colorado Rockies Baseball team plays. Their first date was at the Rockies Stadium so it was a perfect way to recreate their first date by asking her to marry him.
The plan was complicated. The two were going on a private tour of the stadium and we had to figure out where he would propose so I could be in place at the time of the surprise. Chase decided home plate was the most fitting of places because they would have the entire Coors Stadium to themselves. Their private tour started from one entrance of the stadium and I showed up about 30 minutes after their tour started with my camera in tow! I met a group of their closest friends and family at a side gate where we gathered and excitement built to watch them get engaged.
The staff at the Coors Field orchestrated a back way for us to get into the stadium without being seen by C+M. We were headed to the tunnel which overlooks home plate to watch the surprise proposal go down. This is the part where I spare you from all the puns I could dream of about Chase pitching the baseball and Meg hitting a home run by saying YES!
Chase got down on one knee as friends and family watched from afar and proposed to Meg. She was completely shocked! I got the insider scoop from friends that she thought the proposal was coming a week later because a friend of hers was expected to be there and said friend said she could not make it to Denver for this weekend. Surprise surprise! Everyone was there to witness and share in the joy of the moment of this surprise engagement.
The Coors Field staff was amazing about organizing everything to a T and even provided everyone a glass of champagne to toast to the newly engaged couple. After lots of hugs and kisses the family and friends went off to dinner and I got to take a few portraits with C+M on our own. We had a fabulous private tour guide giving all the facts about the stadium and the different nuances of baseball at high altitudes. He guided us around and let us go on the field, in the dugout, through the players club, and up to the Coors Rooftop terrace.
We got to go back onto the field briefly and experience the magic of being in the center of the stadium while soaking up the moment. It’s really magical to be able to be right where MLB players sit in the dugout and play on the field. And we had the entire stadium to ourselves!
After the dugout, we got to go up to the Coors Field rooftop deck and watch the sunset over the mountains. Another surprise Chase pulled off was that he got them matching Rockies jerseys with their last names on the back! I have edited out their names for their privacy but you can envision how special these keepsakes would be for them on their engagement day. I always like to let my couples who just had a surprise proposal soak in the moment without directing them to pose or having to think about anything but each other. This is the result:
